LOS ANGELES -- Over 1,300 firefighters were battling a fast-growing wildfire burning out of control on Sunday in Riverside County of Southern California.

NEW YORK -- Global COVID-19 cases have surpassed 18 million on Sunday, reaching 18,002,567 as of 9:34 p.m. local time (0134 GMT Monday), according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

A total of 687,930 people worldwide have died from the disease, the data showed.

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- At least two civilians were killed and 24 other people wounded in a car bomb blast and ensuing gunfire outside a prison in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province Sunday, a local official confirmed.

TEGUCIGALPA -- Honduras' armed forces reported Sunday the destruction of a clandestine airstrip used by drug trafficking organizations to ship illicit drugs.
