TASHKENT, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with visiting head of the U.S. Central Command, general Kenneth McKenzie, on bilateral military technical cooperation between the two countries and the peace process in neighboring Afghanistan, the president's press service said Tuesday.
"During the conversation, the state and prospects of bilateral military and military-technical cooperation were thoroughly considered. Particular attention is paid to the issues of effective counteraction to global challenges and threats to security and stability," the press service said.
The two sides also discussed the situation in neighboring Afghanistan and exchanged views on supporting the peace process, as well as rendering practical assistance to the economic reconstruction of this country, according to the statement.
General Kenneth McKenzie is on a working visit in Uzbekistan, it said.
