MANILA -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines surged to 962,307 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,227 new infections on Wednesday.

ADDIS ABABA -- The African Union on late Tuesday expressed condolences to the family and the people of Chad following the death of Chadian President Idriss Deby.

WASHINGTON -- A black teenage girl was killed Tuesday in a police shooting in Columbus, Ohio, shortly before a jury reached a guilty verdict in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin over the death of George Floyd.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia reported 1,169 new locally transmitted COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide count to 25,364, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Wednesday.
