"There was massive river erosion this year, though the country didn't witness severe flooding. A total of 9,445 families were affected by the river erosion this year. We sent a list of the victims to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They all will get houses with two-decimal lands," he said at a press conference.

The press conference was arranged at his ministry's conference room to update the press about the preparations for the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2021.

Dr. Rahman said that the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is on Wednesday, 13 Oct. His ministry has made necessary arrangements to observe the day side-by-side with the Mujib Centennial in a befitting style in Bangladesh and join countries worldwide.

The state minister elaborated that his ministry has been executing different structural and non-structural programs in well-organized ways to build a more disaster-resistant, safer, and better sustainable Bangladesh by reducing the loss of lives and properties in the disasters.
