DAWEI, Myanmar - Early this week, the military and police raided a charity clinic in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, leading to the detention of seven volunteers and the confiscation of goods.
According to the Dawei Information Center Facebook page, roughly 30 troops stormed the clinic around 8 p.m., Monday night, seizing an ambulance, drugs, and medical equipment. The clinic is located on Yae Thein St in Wea Kyun Naungyan ward.
On Tuesday, a local close to those arrested from the organization told Myanmar Now that no one had contacted them since they were taken into junta custody, and no one knew where they were being kept.
All seven volunteers are in their twenties and reportedly worked in the clinic during the Covid-19 pandemic.
