PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 18, the first shipment of petroleum products will be sent from Azerbaijan to Armenia, according to Azerbaijani news agency APA.
The shipment-22 wagons of AI-95 gasoline produced by the state oil company SOCAR-is based on an agreement reached during a November 28 meeting in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
It was emphasized that the export of Azerbaijani fuel to Armenia is purely commercial, and the gasoline will be sold at international market prices.
By decision of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Railways have been instructed to transport the cargo free of charge on a one-time basis and without delay.
The report highlights that this export reflects the economic potential of the peace process and is a significant step toward developing economic and trade ties between the two countries. It is expected to contribute to regional economic cooperation and strengthen interconnectivity among regional states.
Deputy Prime Minister Grigoryan recently confirmed that fuel exports from Azerbaijan had been discussed during his meeting with Mustafayev in Gabala, stating: "Yes, discussions have taken place. There are opportunities for cooperation."
Earlier, Azerbaijani presidential aide for foreign policy Hikmet Hajiyev noted that alongside border delimitation talks, the deputy prime ministers also discussed potential areas of bilateral trade, including oil and petroleum exports from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
