PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has taken a high position in the latest democracy assessment, surpassing other countries in the region.
According to the latest index published by The Economist, Armenia has secured a leading position in the region in terms of the level of democracy.
The magazine released its annual Democracy Index on April 7, Factor.am reports. In particular, Armenia ranked 84th, being included in the group of countries with hybrid regimes. Georgia and Turkey are also in this category, ranking 99th and 102nd respectively.
Armenia's other neighbors, Azerbaijan and Iran, were classified among authoritarian states, ranking 127th and 152nd.
At the same time, Russia and Belarus were placed in the same authoritarian category, occupying the 148th and 149th positions. Meanwhile, Moldova (77th place) and Ukraine (93rd place) were included among countries with hybrid regimes.
