PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said trade relations have begun between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He made the statement in a message addressed to participants of the 82nd session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Report.az reports.
Aliyev noted that significant changes have taken place in the South Caucasus in recent years and pointed to progress in normalizing relations.
"In August 2025, historic progress was achieved in Washington toward normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are already seeing some results of this peace. Trade relations have begun between the two countries, Azerbaijan has provided transit access to Armenia, and mutual visits by civil society representatives are helping strengthen trust," he said.
On August 8, during a trilateral meeting at the White House involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration on the outcomes of the Washington talks was signed.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, initialed an agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between the two countries.
