PanARMENIAN.Net - A fuel-loaded train is en route from Azerbaijan to Armenia, a development welcomed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Yes, I saw that a train carrying Azerbaijani-produced petroleum products is heading toward Armenia. I welcome this development," Pashinyan said, according to Radar Armenia.
He emphasized that the trade is being conducted between private companies, but noted that the political conditions enabling such transactions have been made possible by the established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"I don't have all the details, but I know one train is coming. I'm aware of certain issues related to Georgian railway tariffs, and I hope those matters will either be resolved or, if not, that businesses will find alternative ways to ensure imports and exports if such deals prove viable," he added.
Azerbaijani media reported that the first batch of petroleum products would be shipped from Azerbaijan to Armenia on December 18. According to the agreement reached during the November 28 meeting in Gabala between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, 22 wagons filled with AI-95 gasoline produced by the state-owned oil company SOCAR will be sent to Armenia.
