KABUL, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched the construction of a new health center in eastern Afghanistan's Wardak province, according to the Bakhtar news agency on Wednesday.

The project, with a total cost of 100,000 U.S. dollars, is expected to improve access to essential healthcare services for local residents. Once completed, the facility will help address pressing medical needs and strengthen public health services in the province.

To further enhance healthcare delivery nationwide, the Ministry of Public Health announced in December plans to construct 318 general hospitals across the country.
